From American Biography: A New Cyclopedia, Volume 5:, Pg. 281:
(IV) Joshua Boyden, son of Jonathan (2) and Rachel (Fisher) Boyden, was born August 20, 1709, at medfield, the fifth of a family of children born to his parents. After the early death of his father he probably made his home with his grandfather, Captain Boyden, whose home finally came into his possession. In 1735 he was living on what is now Pound street, near South street. By trade he was a house carpenter, and he appears to have enjoyed the confidence of his fellow-townsmen, aho appointed him sealer of weights and measures in 1742, and he served on the Board of Selectmen in 1755, 1757 and 1758. In 1762 he deeded the homestead to his son Asa and removed to "Rutland District,", settling at that part known as Barre, and later transferred his membership to the church there. He married (third) Mrs. Rachel Bullard, of Wrentham.
