Biography

Daniel Porter was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia about 1848, the son of George and Mary Porter. He married Caroline (“Catherine”) ‘Perchas’ (Purches, Purchase) on April 11, 1873 at Amherst C of E. ^[1]

Daniel (52) appears with his wife Caroline (47) and several of their children and extended family members at Springhill on the 1901 Census of Canada. Here his birthday is given as ‘July 23, 1848’.^[2]

Daniel Porter passed away at Springhill on Nov 09, 1933, age given (87), birth year given as 1846. His father's name is given as ‘George Porter, birthplace England’. Daniel’s son Joseph Porter was the informant on the record.^[3]

According to findagrave, Daniel was born July 23, 1846 at Amherst, Nova Scotia. His memorial (no tombstone pic) is at Hillside in Springhill.^[4]
