James was born on 16 March 1757 in Longniddrie, Haddingtonshire, son of George Pow and Euphan Pephers. He was baptised on 23 March 1757 in Gladsmuir. Witnesses were Robert Pow and David Pephers. [1]
He married Margaret Bell on 28 December 1777 in Edinburgh. [2] They had 3 children.
