Biography

Father of Nancy, Paschal Cook's second wife, died the same year as his daughter. Note that "Adkins" is a family name of some importance in the early years of this country but link with the Powell family not yet established though I have currently traced to the Atkinson family in early America.

"One of the early settlers of Warrensburg township was Martin Warren, from whom the township takes its name, who came from Kentucky about 1833 and settled on the present site of the city of Warrensburg. He built a log cabin and reared a large family here. He is described as having been a "plain, old fashioned, conservative farmer and honest man; corpulent in person; without beard; in politics a Whig, though he never sought office."
