Hesse was born about 1834.
Ancestry member jrayec gave permission to copy this comment, which she added to the 1860 census record page for Hessy Ann: "This is the Chesley Sauls Family. The child, Sarah J, was my great-grandmother. After studying and studying the record I finally figured out that the record actually reads "unnamed" for the child transscribed as Emma Ames. The record says she was 1 year old, but that must Sarah Jane's baby sister who according to our records was born May 14,1860. She would have been approximately 2 months old and it would make more sense for a child of that age to be unnamed. She was named Chesley after her father. The parents, Chesley and Hessie, died sometime within the next two to three years. I doubt I'll ever find out exactly when. The court house in Webster Co burned around 1913. The girls were raised seperately by uncles. Sarah Jane was raised by Richard Price. I have not found anything that confirms who raised Chesley. The transcription of the census states they were born in South Carolina, but they were all born in Georgia. The person writting the census left the birth state blank" I found the comment here: [[1]] Sauls-238 09:04, 3 August 2017 (EDT)
