Biography

William Westcott Price was born in about 1822 and was baptised on 8 April 1822 at Ludlow, Shropshire[1]. He was the son of William Price and Elizabeth Westcott.

William emigrated from England to New Zealand circa 1863 (as did his brothers Alexander and Arthur.)

He was aged 52 when he married widow Harriet Cox on 13 December 1874 at Holy Trinity Church in Lyttelton, Canterbury[2]. They appear to have remained childless.

His mother Elizabeth died in 1878.

In the 1897 New Zealand Electoral Rolls (1853-2010), William Westcott Price was recorded living in Hereford Street East, Christchurch, Canterbury, employed as a Chemist.

He passed away at his home on Friday, 22 October 1897 and was buried on Monday, 25 October 1897 at Linwood Cemetery, Linwood, Christchurch City, Canterbury, New Zealand[3][4]. PLOT: Block 7, Plot 7
