Biography

William Punchard, of untraced antecedents, settled in New Haven, where he died 16 Dec. 1748. He married first, 21 Apr. 1703, Hannah Brown, daughter of Eleazer (Francis) and Sarah (Bulkley); and secondly, 23 May 1717, Mehitable Perkins, born 29 Oct 1692, died in 1751, daughter of David (Edward) and Deliverance.

i. William, b. 1 Aug 1704; d. young
ii. Abigail, b 20 July 1708; d. 26 Oct 1774, aged 67 (gravestone at Mount Carmel); m. 2 Dec 1726/7 Daniel Bradley, b. 4 Aug 1706, d. 9 Feb. 1773, aged 67, son of Daniel (Abraham, William) and Sarah (Bassett). six children
iii. Hannah, b. 2 Oct 1711; m. (1) 23 Mar 1737/8 Hezekiah Beecher, b. 14 June 1703, d. 21 Sept 1751, aged 48 (gravestone at New Haven), s. of Joseph (Isaac) and Lydia (? Roberts); m. (2) 7 Mar 1752 Enos Pardee, b. 12 Sept 1720, d. in 1792, s. of Enos (Joseph, George) and Abigail (Holt). Only child by first husband: 1. Hannah, b. 20 Mar 1746/7; d. 21 Aug 1751, aged 5 (gravestone at New Haven). Only child by second husband: 2. Hannah, b. 5 June 1753; m. 5 June 1774 Timothy Sperry of Burlington.

iv. Sarah, b. 19 Feb 1717/18; d. about 1761; m. (1) 27 Feb 1739/40 Joseph Todd,. b. 1 Nov. 1711, d. about 1756, son of John (John, Christopher) and Hannah (Butler); m. (2) 8 Sept 1757 Charles Sabin, bapt. 18 Apr. 1725 d. in Apr 1789, son of Hezekiah and Zerviah (Hosmer). The probate records show that Sarah left no surviving issue. Children by first husband: 1. William, b. 27 Dec 1740; d. young 2. Joseph, b. 20 Aug 1743; d. young.
