Mary was born in June 1896. Daughter of Lawrence Henry Ramsbottom (Quarryman) and Mary Alice Barnes from Wood Top. Her mother died in June 1896, aged 32.
She was Baptised on 5 July 1896 at Holcombe Emmanuel, Lancashire, England. [1]
On 31 March 1901 Alfred Lee Hodgen (40) Engine Tenter Cotton Mill, wife Sarah Hodgen (45) Refreshment Shop Keeper, with children Sarah Ann Hodgen (19) Cotton Weaver, Polly Hodgen (17) Cotton Weaver, John Hodgen (13) Reacher in Cotton Mill (Half Timer), Alfred Hodgen (10), Robert Hodgen (6), adopted Blackburn born daughter Mary A Ramsbottom (6), married daughter-in-law Emily Black (22) Domestic Servant and grand daughter Sarah J Black (4/12) lived in Belshorn Rd, Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, England.[2]
