Mary was born in 1812. She emigrated to New Zealand, sailing from London, UK (via The Downs, which is an anchorage off South East England where ships often awaited favourable winds) aboard the "Eden" on 8 Jun 1850. The Wakelin family aboard were Richard and Mary and their four children and they travelled in steerage. On 6 Nov 1850 they disembarked in Nelson, NZ. She passed away in 1896. She was buried in Greytown Cemetery, Greytown.
