Bridget Redican was born in 1843 in Scurmore, Kilmacumsy. She was the daughter of Michael Redican and Hanoria Kelly. Her father was a labourer.
On 5 Feb 1873, Bridget (29) married James Roddy of Lisphilip, Kilmacumsy, in Strokestown Church. Their witnesses were Michael Connor and Bridget Conry[1].

Bridget worked as a seamstress. Her husband was a stone mason and farmer. They raised their six children in a three roomed thatched cottage with three front windows. There was a cow house and piggery on their farm. James's younger sister Winnie Roddy, who was deaf, lived with the family.
In 1901, Bridget (57) lived with his wife James (58), daughter Katie (18), son Michael (15) and sister in law Winnie (51)[2].
Bridget was present at the death of Winnie in 1905. James died two years later in 1907.
In 1911, Bridget (67) lived with her son Michael (25). Her granddaughter Mary Kate Quinn was staying with them[3].
