Biography

Stephen served with Company G, North Carolina 1st Cavalry in the Civil War. He enlisted on 20 May 1860 in Buncombe County, North Carolina and was captured at Vicksburg 4 July 1863.

Stephen and Margaret S. Byers were married 20 May 1866 in Waynesville, North Carolina. ^[1]

Stephen and Margaret Adeline Hipps were married 4 January 1876 in Madison County, North Carolina. ^[2]
