Biography

Clarence Alonzo Reid was born on 11 Apr 1927, likely near Anniston, Calhoun county, Alabama. His parents were Edward L Reid & Viola (Metts) Reid.

In the 1930 census Clarence (age 2) and four siblings were in the home of their parents, Edward L Reed (age 40) and Viola Reid (age 34) at Anniston, Calhoun, Alabama, United States.^[1]

In the 1940 census Clarence (age 12) and three siblings were in the home of their father, E A Reid (age 50) at Election Precinct 15 Anniston, Calhoun, Alabama, United States.^[2]

He was a veteran of WWII, with basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas and assigned to a field artillery unit with service in the Phillipines. ^[3]

Clarence married Belva Griffey. Details of their marriage are unknown. He may have been previously married. There are three children shown in public records with a large age gap between child #2 and #3. The family is seen in public records residing near Huntsville, Alabama.^[4]

Clarence (age 68) passed away on 20 Dec 1995. ^[5] He is buried at Maple Hill Cemetery, Huntsville, Madison, Alabama, United States. ^[6]

Belva (age 90) passed away on 3 Apr 2020. The place of death is unknown. She was buried at Maple Hill Cemetery with husband Clarence. ^[7]
