Biography

Ortsfamilienbuch Jockgrim

Reiß, Johann Bernhard, born on July 14th, 1728 in Jockgrim, was a day laborer. He died on June 10th 1808 in Jockgrim (83 years and widower). On November 22nd, 1751 in Jockgrim, he married Katharina Barbara Bandel, who was born on December 7th, 1729 and died on April 6th, 1775. They had the following children:

  • Johann Georg, born on October 25th, 1752
  • Anna Maria, born on February 10th, 1754
  • Georg Adam, born on October 7th, 1755 and died on February 14th, 1758
  • Eva Gertrud, born on March 16th, 1757
  • Maria Elisabeth, born on April 22nd, 1759
  • Katharina Barbara, born on May 20th, 1761 and died on March 18th, 1762
  • Franz Bernhard, born on September 24th, 1762
  • Franz Peter, born on December 14th, 1764 and died on January 27th, 1767
  • Maria Eva, born on November 19th, 1766
  • Georg Jakob, born on July 25th, 1768
  • Apollonia, born on June 15th, 1770
  • Katharina Barbara, born on August 2nd, 1773 and died on October 1st 1773

On September 20th, 1780 in Jockgrim, he married Barbara Schimpf, who was born in 1729 in Schaidt and died on August 16th, 1803 in Jockgrim.[2]

Reiß, Franz Bernhard, born on September 24th, 1762, in Jockgrim, was a farmer and day laborer. He died in 1809. On August 16th, 1786, in Jockgrim, he married Katharina Eva Bernhard (Schwann), who was born on August 3rd, 1757, in Herxheim. She died on October 29th, 1788, in Jockgrim. They had one child, Franz Michael, born on December 17th, 1786.

On January 12, 1789, in Jockgrim, he married Maria Barbara Goldate, who was born on November 23rd, 1767. They had the following children:

  • Anna Maria, born on October 24th, 1789.
  • Anna Barbara, born on August 14th, 1791 and died on August 23rd, 1792.
  • Franziska, born on December 24th, 1792 and died in 1796 in Neupotz.
  • Johann Jakob, born on April 10th, 1795 and died on April 11th, 1795.
  • Franz Jakob, born on February 2nd, 1798 and died on July 29th, 1798.
  • Johann Philipp, born on May 23rd, 1799 <He immigrated to Selz/Odessa>
  • Maria Eva, born on March 29th, 1801 and died on October 15th, 1804.
  • Katharina Barbara, born on November 5th, 1804.
  • Sebastian, born on September 11th, 1807 and died on September 12, 1807.
  • Maria, born in 1809.

The family immigrated to Russia on June 14th, 1808, and settled in Selz, near Odessa, in 1811. After the husband died, the widow married a tree gardener (probably around 1809/10).[3]

Mentioned in son's baptism: Joannes Philippus Reiss was baptized on 25 May 1799 in Jockgrim, the son of Francisco Reiss and Barbara Goldate. [4]

Mentioned in daughter's baptism: Catharina Barbara Reis was baptized on 5 Nov 1804 in Jockgrin, the daughter of Francisici Reis and Barbara Goldate.[5]

Marriage

Mentioned in granddaughter's marriage record: Peter Weigel, a widower, age 34, son of Michael Weigel (son of Peter) and Barbara (daughter of Balthasar Unknown), married Magdalena Reis, age 20, daughter of Phillip Reis (son of Franz) and Catharina (daughter of Georg Schiffmacher), on the 27th of May 1840 in the village of Elsass by Friedrich Johansen. Witnesses were Joseph Gruber and Jakob Schmittheisler.[6]
