Biography

Randall Rice, (Jr.?) was born sometime between 1788 and 1791. (He didn't seem to be able to report his birthdate accurately on various censuses from 1850 to 1870.) He may have been born in Warwick, RI because his parents were married there in 1773. He married Phebe Bailey on January 19, 1812 in East Greenwich, Kent County, RI, They had their first two children, Jerriah Bailey and John Mendon in Rhode Island, either in Warwick or Greenwich. Before Maria, Susan, Caroline and Harriet were born in 1817, they moved to New Berlin, Chenango County, New York. Charles was born in Poland, Herkimer County, New York in 1823. By 1850 Randall and Phebe were living in Utica, NY where Randall's sons established successful businesses--J.M. Rice & Company, a clothing store, and Charles Rice Livery. Randall Rice died on September 8, 1875 Utica, Oneida County, New York and was buried there in Forest Hill Cemetary.
