Biography
William Richards, a Sail maker's birth year is an estimate based on his Daughter Annie's approximate birth of 1844, and he is Mentioned as Annie Richards father in her 1867 Marriage to David Deere[1] Her birth record says he was a grocer and names her mother, Mary Williams. [2] William and Mary Williams, daughter of laborer John Williams, were married 20 April 1841 at the parish church of St. Woolos, Newport, Monmouthshire, Wales. [3]This record also notes that William is a sailmaker and his father, George Richards, is a carpenter. [3] They were the parents of four known children:

After mary died in 1852, William married the widow Ann Jane (Lukey) Evans, daughter of the merchant Nicholas Lukey, at the parish church of St. Woollos on 14 May 1853. [4] Sadly, he died just a short 9 days later on 23 May 1853 at 68 St. Mary Street, Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales. [5]
