Birth:
Charles was born on February 16, 1838, (at 6 A.M.) in Dinton. He is the son of Uzziah Rickard and Rebecca Hughes. Uzziah is shown as a Laborer on the birth registration, and Charles' mother makes her mark with an 'X' as the informant. The surname is mis-recorded as 'Rickett' on the birth registration. ^[1]

1841 Census:
The 1841 Census finds Charles living with his parents and younger brother Ezra in Dinton, Aylesbury. ^[2]

1851 Census:
13 year-old Charles is living with his parents in Dinton, at the time of the 1851 Census. His two younger brothers, James (born in 1844), and William (born in 1849) are also in the same household.^[3]

1861 Census:
23 year-old Charles continues to live with his parents at the time of the 1861 Census. In addition 6 of his younger siblings are living in the same household. ^[4]
