Greta Risley was born on July 14, 1866, in Wilmington, NC. Her name at birth was Margaret Percy Beery. Her father was Stephen Wallace Beery and her mother was Virginia Constance "Jennie" Risley. Stephen Beery died in 1872, and Jennie Risley married Robert Avery. Greta took her mother's maiden name as her stage name. She died on Feb. 1, 1923, in New York, NY.
