Biography

This profile is part of the Reese Name Study.

Carrie was born about January 22, 1882 ^[1]. Most family trees list her as the daughter of Julia Adelaide Davis and Matthew Alonzo (Lon) Ritchey, athough she is not listed in the estate file of her father ^[2]. Carrie's mother married Amos A. Reese in 1886, and Carrie was listed as his daughter (instead of his stepdaughter) in the 1900 census ^[3]. She also used the Reese surname in other documents during her lifetime ^[4].

She married twice:

1) William Albert Newland (28) (born on August 26, 1873 in Iowa): They married in April 1902 in Jasper, Missouri ^[5]. William and Carrie had three children.

2 ) Lewis Charles Luton (29) (born in June, 1882 in Cherokee Nation, Ind Ter, Oklahoma; son of David Ebenezer Luton and Rebecca Lavina (Coker) Luton): They married in May 1912 in Carthage, Missouri ^[6].

Carrie died on September 8, 1959 in Picher, Ottawa, Oklahoma ^{[7] [8]}.
