Biography

Eunice Robbins, born 29 Sep 1797 at Voluntown, Connecticut, was a daughter of Loren Robbins (1760-1849). Her mother may have been Catherine (Langworthy; 1760-1840), however this is uncertain; she may have been Elizabeth Boardman (1760 - 1840), daughter of Joseph Boardman (1722-1796) and Rachael (Killam) Boardman (1730-).

Eunice Robbins married in August 1821, in Connecticut, Martin Babcock (1783-1867) [1],[2]. They had 5 children:

  1. Elizabeth (Babcock; 1822-1892); married Giles Scott
  2. Clark Hinckley Babcock (1823-1895); married Kate Shields Cole
  3. Catherine A. (Babcock; 1826-); married Bryan Scott
  4. Henry R. Babcock (1828–1906); unmarried [Note: His online memorial site incorrectly represents his middle initial as 'H', whereas 'R' is clearly inscribed on the depicted grave marker, fashioned of granite.]
  5. Keziah (Babcock; 1830-1906); married Joseph Jerome Budlong

Eunice (Robbins) Babcock died 19 Apr 1878 at Bridgewater, New York. Her grave is in Fairview Cemetery, Bridgewater, Oneida County, New York, USA [3].

Notes

Eunice's sister Catherine married Martin Babcock's brother Asa. Whereas both probably were daughters of Loren Robbins, unfortunately there is no confirmed trace to Eunice's mother, thus her maternal descendancy from Catherine (Langworthy) is checked uncertain. In the online memorial site for Loren Robbins, its accuracy unknown, his profile is spousally linked to "Betsey" Robbins , who probably was Elizabeth Boardman (1760 - 1840), daughter of Joseph Boardman (1722-1796) and Rachael (Killam) Boardman (1730-) [4].

National DAR # 192494

The cited online memorial site presents her birth year as 1795, which probably is an error due to the heavily eroded condition of the grave marker, which is virtually illegible.
