Biography

This profile is part of the Nelson, New Hampshire One Place Study.

George Robbins was born in Marlborough, New Hampshire on March 31, 1833. He is the son of Amos Robbins and Philana Priest. [1] [2]

He removed to Vermont for a time where he met and on Jan 31, 1856, married Rosina Lewis of Bridgewater, Vermont. They had five children, but only Abbie E Robbins, (1857 - 1885), and Alice M Robbins, (1862 - ), survived. Rosina herself died in Bridgewater, Vermont, on October 16, 1863. She died in Morgan, VT Oct 16, 1863.

George mustered in to A Company, 9th Vermont Infantry Regiment on August 9, 1864 and mustered out on July 19, 1865. [3]

George Robbins married 2d on Nov 18, 1869, Katy Packard of Quincy, Massachusetts. They were married in Quincy. [4] Katy and George had three children: Maude Ashton Robbins Stratton (1871 - ) Henry Wallace Robbins (1879 - ) Ethel Howard Robbins (1885 - ) They resided in Nelson.
