He registered for the World War I Draft on June 5, 1918 in which he lists his father as his nearest relative and describes himself as being of a medium height and build with brown eyes and auburn hair:

Charley and Pearl are listed together on the 1920 Census[6] and the 1930 Census[7] which indicate that they had at least two children (both daughters): Norma Jean and Georgia L. Roberts. Sometime between the 1930 Census and the 1940 Census; Charley and Pearl were divorced (record needed). Charley is listed on the 1940 Census with his second wife - Stella Kelly Roberts and Stella is listed as his wife on his record of death in February of 1965[8] Stella is also linked to Charley on his find-a-grave memorial.[9]
