Biography

Mills Robertson was born in 1796 in Buckingham County, Virginia. He was the son of Jeffrey Robertson and Nancy Dickenson. Jeffrey Robertson apparently moved his family to Bedford Co. about 1798/9, just a few years after Mills was born.

Mills married Elizabeth S. Walker in Bedford Co. in 1821. And he married secondly in 1845 to Mary Preston. Mills' estate records indicate he had only one daughter, Martha Robertson Garrett. Since Martha was already married in 1851, it is assumed she was a daughter of Elizabeth.

He passed away in 1851, explaining why Mills was not mentioned in his father's will. Mills is reportedly buried in the Old Dickerson Cemetery in Moneta, Virginia (unconfirmed).
