Biography

??Date variation needs to be fixed??: William Nathaniel Rochester Birth 3 Mar 1780 in Union, Union, South Carolina Before 1860, Death 1850 in Clemson, Anderson, South Carolina, Source Widow pension file. http://revwarapps.org/w8565.pdf

After the Revolutionary War, the father Nicholas Rochester had moved from North Carolina and had become a resident of Union County, South Carolina, and was there when his son William was born 03 March 1780 (from court file). Although the Rochesters were staunch members of the Anglican Church, they, as did many others who located in the Upcountry, became affiliated with other communions of the Church, frequently Presbyterian.

The Rochesters in South Carolina became associated with the Presbyterian Church at Old Stone Church, where son William and his wife, Sarah Whitten Rochester, were active parishioners and where their bodies were buried.
