Biography

The daughter of Joseph Rodefer (1773-1848) and his wife, Anna Maria (1777-1856), Susan Rodefer was born in Maryland[citation needed] around 1810. She first married Charles Hoddy, marrying in Tippecanoe County, Indiana on May 20, 1837[1]

Widowed in 1844, Susan Hoddy remarried, marrying Charles Cleaver, the son of Joseph Cleaver and Ann Evans, marrying in Tippecanoe County, Indiana on December 10, 1844[citation needed] and having one known child together, Lydia Annaretta Cleaver (1845-1852).

Widowed a second time in 1848, Susan Cleaver remarried in 1850, marrying widower George Liptrap Sr, his third wife. They married in Tippecanoe County, Indiana on January 6, 1850[2] and had one child together. Susan and George Bright made their home in Benton County, Indiana.[3] In 1850, her household included Susan and her husband, four of her husband's children from his first marriage; her husband's step-son, from his second wife's first marriage, Susan's two children from her first marriage, and Susan's daughter from her second marriage. By 1860, Susan and her family lived in West Pine Township, Indiana.[4] The household included her husband's children, Charles, George, and James Liptrap, and Susan and George's son, Joseph Liptrap.

Widowed a third time in 1863, Susan Liptrap is believed to have passed away in Wayne Township, Indiana in 1864.[citation needed]
