Margareta and Lorenz immigrated to the United States in 1901. Together with their nine children, they left on 19 Nov 1901 sailing from Bremen on the ship "Kronprinz Wilhelm". They arrived in New York on 26 Nov 1901.

Margaretha passed away in 1937. She was buried in Saint Lawrence Cemetery, Flasher, Morton County, North Dakota.
