Biography

The son of Albert Ross and Mary (Enyart) Ross, James Ross was born in Gould Township, Oklahoma[citation needed] in 1917, residing there with his family.[1] By 1930, they lived in Arizona, residing in Palo Verde.[2] James' mother passed away in 1934; in 1940, James lived with his father and his two brothers, near Tempe, Arizona.[3]

James Ross registered for the World War II draft when he was 22, registering in Mesa, Arizona on October 16, 1940.[4] He listed his address as Box 472 in Tempe, Arizona and that he was employed by the Civilian Conservation Corps at Camp F-41-A in Safford, Arizona. He was described as 5'9" tall and 145 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He enlisted in the United States Navy on September 22, 1943 and was discharged on April 17, 1946.[5]

After the war, James Ross married Alice Luella Flom (1911-2002), the daughter of Johannes Larsen Flom and Inga Andrina Kolstad, marrying in Cannon Falls, Minnesota on August 16, 1951.[citation needed] They made their home in Hesperia, California and in Valley Springs, California, where he passed away at the age of 80.[6] He is buried at Urley Cemetery in Sogn, Minnesota.[7]
