Biography

James Wallis Rouse was born in 1865 at Oxford in Oxfordshire. He was the son of Alfred James Rouse and his wife Mary, born Mary Kate Wallis. ^{[1] [2]}

In 1871 James W. Rouse was living at 4 Chapel Place South in central London with his parents Alfred J. and Mary K. Rouse and their other children. His age was given as 5, implying a birth date in 1865 or 1866. His birthplace was given as Oxford. ^[2]

His father and younger sister died on 3 September 1878 in the disastrous sinking of the steamer Princess Alice in the River Thames off Woolwich.

James Wallis Rouse and Mary Baylis were married in London in 1890. ^{[3] [4] [5]}

In 1891 James W. Rouse was living at 42 Balmer Road in Hackney in London with his wife James W. Rouse. His age was given as 25, implying a birth date in 1865 or 1866. His birthplace was given as Oxford. He was employed as a salesman by a baker. ^[6]

Their son Percy Wallis Rouse was born in later in 1891. ^[4]

In 1911 James Wallis Rouse was living at 79 Henley Road in Ilford in Essex with his wife Mary and their 5 children. His age was given as 45, implying a birth date in 1865 or 1866.
