Biography

Mervin was born in February 1935 on the Rucks farm. He was the son of August Rucks and Lydia Jaworski who were farmers. Mervin helped his father on the farm and took over the responsibilities on the farm after his father died in 1957. Mervin married Darlene Eichorst on 23 July 1960. They raised a son and a daughter on their farm. Merv and Darlene were active in Trinity Lutheran Church in Esk and later Zion Lutheran in Jansen. They were members of Jansen and District Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs and other clubs. In retirement, they enjoyed spending the winter in Arizona. Mervin died on 15 September 2019 in Saskatoon. He was buried in Esk Lutheran Cemetery, north of Esk, Saskatchewan.
