Princess Ruffo di Calabria, Princess of Liège, Queen of the Belgians
Paola Ruffo di Calabria, seventh and youngest child of Prince Fulco Antonio Ruffo di Calabria and his wife Luisa Gazelli, was born in Fonte dei Marmi (Toscana) on 11 September 1937.
On 2 June 1959 she married Albert, Prince de Liège, younger brother of Beaudouin, King of the Belgians, in Brussels. The couple had three children:
In August 1993 King Beaudouin died unexpectedly. He and his wife Fabiola were childless, therefore Albert became the next King of the Belgians as Albert II.
Albert II abdicated on 21 July 2013. His son, Philippe succeeded as King of the Belgians.
