Biography
The daughter of Charles Runyan and Ethel (Gates) Weeden, Ella was born in Brady Township in 1910.[1] Her father was ill with Bright's disease (nephritis) and in 1920, they lived with her mother's parents in Billings Township.[2] Her father died when she was eleven years old, in 1921, and her mother married the next year, marrying her aunt's widowed husband, Jesse Weeden. Ella married James Alexander McClung (1910-1965), the son of John A. McClung and Ethel May Dorman, in Wheeler, Michigan on November 16, 1929.[3] She was seventeen and he was nineteen. At first, they lived with her mother and stepfather.[4] Their children included:
Charles McClung (1932-)
Beverly McClung (1933-)
Ethel McClung (1935-)
Olive McClung (1936-)
They made their home in Carrollton Township, outside of Saginaw, Michigan.[5] Her husband was a core maker at a foundry, as was her stepfather and her stepbrother, Earl. Ella passed away at the age of 82 and is buried at Bendle Cemetery in Flushing, Michigan.[6]
