Biography
1LT Alfred Russ was Killed in Action during the Vietnam War.
Alfred Bayard Russ was born on November 3, 1943. He was the son of Alfred M. Russ and Frances Wilkinson and the brother of Robert W. Russ of Peterborough, New Hampshire.
His resided in Hancock, New Hampshire.
Alfred enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on June 13, 1966 in Middlebury, Vermont.
He completed OCS and was commissioned as a 2d Lieutenant in Quantico VA. He was assigned for duty and served with Company I, 3d Battalion, 9th Marines, 3d MARDIV (Rein) FMF.
First Lieutenant Alfred Bayard Russ was killed in action on January 13, 1968 in Quang Tri, Vietnam when an enemy shell exploded.
He was buried in Hancock, New Hampshire on family property.
1LT Russ is honored on the Vietnam Veterans Wall of Faces: Panel 34E, Line 45.
