James Lusk Alcorn Russell
James Lusk Alcorn Russell was born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, on May 30, 1891. He was the son of Percy Blackstone and Gertrude Alcorn Russell. She was the daughter of James Lusk and Amelia Walton Glover Alcorn. The Russell family moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in 1893.
On September 4, 1916, James Lusk Alcorn Russell married Velma Armistead of Memphis. They later returned to Eagle’s Nest to live and work alongside Percy Blackstone and Gertrude Alcorn Russell, who had already returned to the plantation. James Lusk Alcorn and Velma Armistead Russell had one child, James Lusk Alcorn Russell, Jr., who was born in 1920.
