Alex's obituary appeared in the Newmarket Era on 15 Feb 1967. It states the following:

Hold Services For Late Alex Rutledge

Newmarket - Funeral services for the late Alex Rutledge were held from the Roadhouse and Rose Funeral Chapel, Newmarket on Feb. 3. Mr. Rutledge died Feb. 1. He was in his 89th year.

Mr. Rutledge was born at Holt, a son of the late Alexander Rutledge and Annie Bosworth. He was married to Annie Williams of Bloomington in 1904 and his wife predeceased him in 1948.

Two sons and one daughter survive, John and Charles Rutledge both of Newmarket, and Viola, Mrs. Floyd Pegg, of Sunderland. There are also two brothers and one sister, Merton of Ravenshoe, Guy of Stouffville and Eliza Widdifield of Barrie.

Mr. Rutledge was a member of Trinity United Church, Newmarket and the Re _(unreadable) Pick conducted the funeral service.

Internment was in Newmarket Cemetery.

P. 12 - Deaths - Rutledge, Alexander - At his residence, Davis Dr., Newmarket, on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 1967, Alexander Rutledge, husband of the late Annie Williams; dear father of John and Charles Rutledge, Newmarket, and Mrs. Floyd Pegg (Viola), of Sunderland; brother of Mrs. Eliza Widdifield, Barrie; Merton Rutledge, Ravenshoe, and Guy Rutledge, Stouffville. Funeral service was held at the Roadhouse & Rose Funeral Home, 157 Main St., Newmarket, on Friday at 2 p.m. Interment Newmarket Cemetery.
