His son was Jakob Salomon (1909–1954).

The family lived in Nürnberg from where they emigrated to the Netherlands in order to avoid Nazi persecution after 1933.
Moritz was deported from Westerbork camp in the Netherlands to Auschwitz on August 28, 1942, and murdered there shortly after arrival, aged 65.
