John Vernon Arge Samson was born in 1883 in Omeo, Victoria (Australia). He was the second son of Henry Samson and his wife Mary (nee Savage). The family soon after moved to Beechworth, Victoria.
In World War I, Gunner John Vernon Samson enlisted into the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on the 17th of October 1916. His Next of Kin was listed as his mother, Mrs H Samson of 72 Gipps Street, East Melbourne, Victoria. Gunner John Samson was assigned to the Field Artillery Brigade, March 1917 Reinforcements and this unit embarked from Melbourne, Victoria, on board HMAT A11 Ascanius on 11 May 1917. Later Lance Corporal John Samson served with the 3rd Divisional Signal Company and returned to Australia on the 19th of October 1918.John Vernon Samson seems to have been married twice in Victoria Australia:
John Vernon Argentine passed away in July 1945 at or about Ocean Grove in Victoria, Australia. He was Cremated and his remains scattered at the Fawkner Memorial Park, in Fawkner, Victoria Australia.
