Francis SANDERSON was born about 1823 and christened on 28 December 1823 in Great Ayton, Yorkshire, England[1] His father was Francis SANDERSON and Sarah BULMER.
Ellen ROBINSON and Francis SANDERSON were married on 1 April 1848 in South Shields Holy Trinity, Durham, England[2].
The ship Sir Edward Parry set sail from London, England on 9 March 1849 and Plymouth on 20 March, with the SANDERSON family from Durham among the passengers and arrived at Port Adelaide, Province of South Australia on 21 June 1849[3][4]. The SANDERSON family consisted of parents Francis (age 24) and Ellen (22), and their infant son, Frederick
Two old colonists, have just joined the great majority, Mr. Henry Everard, aged 76, and Mr. Francis Sanderson, aged 80 years, both of whom resided in Tynte street, North Adelaide. Mr. Sanderson was a Yorkshireman, and was born at Stockton. He came to South Australia in the ship Sir Edward Parry about 1848. He was a member of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, and some years ago was a tenor singer of considerable prominence. He was in business as a saddler in Grenfell-Street on the site now occupied by the British and Foreign Bible Society. He leaves a wife and two daughters, Mrs. H. L.
