Biography

Johann Michael Sattler, born at Sindelfingen in 1520, son of Johann and Anna Sattler, matriculated at Tübingen University in 1530, received his baccalaureate in 1536, received a Magister [Masters] in Juratus et Publicus Notarius, 1546 and took a position as Stadtschreiber (City Clerk) at Schorndorf in 1552. He married the daughter of the Bürgermeister of Tübingen and occupied an important and prestigious position in the city of Schorndorf for 21 years. He died there at age 53. leaving a large family. Starb zu Schorendorf, M. [Magister] Michael Sattler, Stadtschreiber daselbsten. (Died at Schorndorf, Magister Michael Sattler, city clerk at that place.) He and his wife, Anna are buried in the Sattler Chapel in the Stadtskirke in Waiblingen.
