Mary Elizabeth Sayer was born on 12 May 1825 in Goodnestone by Sandwich, Dover, Kent, England to parents Richard Sayer and Hannah Holton. She was christened on 24 Jul 1825 in Goodnestone, Kent, England.[1][2]
She married firstly Robert Peter Atwell on 26 Oct 1845 in St Georges, Ramsgate, Kent. [3]
They emigrated to Australia in 1852 departing on the ship Persian from Deptford, Durham, England in Oct 1852 and arriving in Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne, Australia on 27 Dec 1852. [4] Sadly their first three children died in 1852 before they left England, and Mary Ann died on the ship on the way to Australia. All their children born in Australia lived full lives.

She married secondly James Bullah Lynn on 31 Mar 1864 in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. [5]

.."A second funeral was held on the same day, that of Mrs George Vincent, the wife of the well-known carrier. Mrs Vincent was one of the earliest of the Ballan residents, and her death, which took place after a long and painful illness, caused much regret among her many friends. She has left a number of daughters (who are all married but one) and two sons."
BALLAN. DEATH OF AN OLD COLONIST.
Another old and well-known resident of the district has passed away, in the person of Mr George Vincent, who died on Sunday (24 Mar) , at the age of 82 years. Deceased was a colonist of about 60 years, having arrived in Victoria in 1852. He was amongst the early carriers to the Ballarat diggings, and was for many years carting goods to various places, prior to the advent of railway communication. He was a well-known resident of the Ballan district for many years.
