Donald L Jacobus in Hale, House and Related Families, suggests that William Hills who died at Hartford, was perhaps the Wlliam Hills baptized at Upminster 27 Dec 1608. He gives the following account of the Upminster family:
Thomas Hills of Upminster, Essex and Jane Scarborough were married 10 Oct 1596. They had children baptized in Upminster:
Jane bpt 17 Sep 1598
Rabergia bpt 12 Oct 1600 d. in 1634 unm. administration of her estate was granted to her sister Elizabeth
Elizabeth bpt 6 Apr 1601/2[sic]
Blanche bpt 8 Apr 1603
Mary bpt 4 Mar 1603/4;
Thomas bpt 1 Jun 1606
William bpt 27 Dec 1608
Anthony bpt 1 Mar 1610/11
Thomas, the father was a churchwarden in 1606.
Evidence:
The Lymans lived in a neighboring parish
Both families lived in Roxbury when William Hills (later of Hartford) m. Phillis Lyman.
The Upminster Hills had sons William and Thomas. William and Thomas Hills (immigrants) lived together in Roxbury.
