Biography

Gertrude was born on 5 Apr 1838 and baptized on 7 Apr 1838 in ,Forst Cochem,Rheinland,Prussia, the daughter of Petri Francisci Scherkenbach and Mariae Annae Meurer.

In 1850 she was twelve years old and living in Greenfield, Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her mother Maria and siblings.

In 1900 Gertrude was 62 years old (born April 1838) and living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin with her husband Mathias Peiffer and their five adult children.

In 1910, she and Mathias were living in Milwaukee with three lodgers. The census noted that she was the mother of six children, four of whom were still living.

She died on 3 Sep 1917 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and was buried at Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum in Milwaukee, Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
