Biography

Ruth was born on 6 Aug 1914 in Galena, Missouri. She was the daughter of Paul Schlinder and Cora Kile. Ruth passed away in Merced, California on 22 Nov 1993 and was buried in the Merced Cemetery, Merced, California.^[1][2][3]

1930 Census: Ruth J. Schlinder is living with her parents, Paul H. (42) and Cora B. (32) Schlinder, in Berryville, Arkansas. The record shows that Ruth was 14 years old and born in Missouri. Ruth's siblings Elbert N. 912), Elmer E. (10), Delmar H. (8), John J. (5), and Claud W. (2) are also listed as members of the household.^[4]

25 Feb 1933: Miss Ruth Jane Schlinder and John R. Stephens (21) were married in Carroll County, Arkansas. The record notes that Ruth was 18 and a resident of Berryville, Arkansas.^[5][6]

1940 Census: Rutha and John R. (28) Stephens are living in Madera County, California where John is employed as a tractor driver for a cotton farm. The couple have 2 chidren: Alfred (3) and Ethel (1).^[7]
