RUSHVILLE - Lloyd E. Schisler, 79, of Rushville passed away at 4:45 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, in the emergency room at Culbertson Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Saturday, June 29, 1929, at home, in rural Astoria. He was the son of the late Ray and Emma Derry Schisler. He married Peggy Curless on Jan. 6, 1951, in Rushville. He later married Nancy Park on Oct. 25, 1975, in Springfield.

She survives along with his son, Dr. Rick Schisler (wife, Debra) of Casa Grande, Ariz.; his granddaughter, Jacqueline Lee Schisler at home; three stepdaughters, Charlotte Meyer of Rushville, Nancy "Sis" Hermes (husband, Robert) of Springfield and Penny Bollinger (husband, Rod) of Manito; eight step grandchildren, Anna and Allison Meyer, Jeremiah Love, Branden Vaughn, Damon and Chelsea Hermes and Adam and Katie Bollinger; two step great-grandchildren, Krista and Austin Vaughn; a brother, Raymond Schisler (wife, Maurine) of Lewistown; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Schisler of Astoria.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Kirk Eugene Schisler, and two brothers, George Schisler, who died in infancy, and Floyd Schisler.

Lloyd was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Korean War. He attended Rushville First United Methodist Church and was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4. He worked at Bartlow Brothers Meat Packing in Rushville, Oscar Meyer and Co. and Excel Corp., both in Beardstown, retiring July 1, 1994.

After retirement Lloyd did handyman jobs in the Rushville area and was a regular visitor and volunteer at area nursing, retirement and long-term care facilities.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at Worthington Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Pichaske officiating. Interment will be in the South Fulton Cemetery near Astoria. Military graveside services will be conducted by the U.S. Army Honors Guard and Astoria American Legion Post 25. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Culbertson Long Term Care Facility.
