Obituary, Gwydir Examiner and Moree General Advertiser, Saturday 24 September 1898:
Obituary.
Mrs. Rebecca Ledingham, a respected resident of the Moree district for the last 32 years, died at her residence, Wallon, on Sunday last, in her 71 year. The deceased was the mother of a large family, consisting of three sons and four daughters, the former being large and thriving selectors in the neighborhood. The funeral of the deceased, who had been a zealous member of the Church of England, took place on Tuesday, and was largely attended, there being 57 relatives of the deceased present. The Rev. Canon Sowter officiated at the grave. The late Mr. and Mrs. Ledingham first came to reside at Tarriaro, Namoi River, in 1850, where they kept an hotel for six years. In 1865 they went to reside at Ashley, but did not remain long there, moving to Wallon in 1866, where Mr. Ledingham died in 1872. When the husband of the deceased lady was dying he expressed a wish that they should be side by side in the same grave, and this wish was, on the decease of Mrs. Ledingham, religiously attended to. The deceased lady will be much missed by a large circle of friends to whom she endeared herself by the display of many estimable qualities.[4]
Research Notes
Several trees have her birth 12 March, baptised 26 March 1824 in Hackney, London, England, however this appears to be another child Rebecca, father James Scott vellum binder, and wife Rebecca.[5]
