Biography

Israel Searle married Jane Rickard on 29 August 1640 at St.Keverne. Will of Israell Searl of St Kevere blacksmith On or about the month of September in the year 1652 Israell Searle of St Keverne blacksmith being about three or fower days before he died of pfect mind and memory did make his last will and testamt in writing which is since lost but the effect thereof followes first he gave and bequeathed to the church of St Keverne one shilling and to the poore of St Keverne one shilling and all the rest of his goods and chattells whatsoever he gave and bequeathed to Jane his wife and John his sonne whom he made his sole executors and this was sealed and published as his last will and testament in the presence of Arthur Bolden and John Cantarrow. On 24 Feb 1669 John’s mother Jane John “being aged and weake of boddy and not able to travell” gave her son John full power over the administration. [CRO ref AP/S/1248] His inventory was praysed by Arthur Bolden on 12 September 1652 Imprimus a tenement known by the name of Chinon? 10-00-00, his bedsteed and chatles to itt belonging 00-10-00, 2 iron pots 00-10-00, corne in the sheafe 01-00-00, for his working tools 01-00-00, for ould pewter and brasse 01-00-00, his purse and wearing apparill 04-00-00, for things forgotten 01-00-00, total £19.
