Biography

George was born in 1857 in Buffalo in Erie County, New York, the son of William Ashford Searle, an immigrant from England, and Maryette Smith. He grew up in Buffalo and began working as a clerk and bookkeeper. In 1887 at age 29, he married Anna Martin in Buffalo. They remained in Buffalo where George worked in manufacturing and many years in insurance. The couple did not have children. George died in 1926 in Buffalo.

Died April 25, George S., beloved husband of Anna M. Searle, brother of Charles W. and William F. of Knoxville, Tenn. and Mrs. Ralph Watts of State College, Pa. Deceased was a member of Queen City lodge, 358 F. & A. M. Funeral was held from his late residence, 490 Richmond avenue, Wednesday afternoon.
