Biography

Hannah Sees was born at Mansfield, Tioga, Pennsylvania on 12 February 1839. She married Joseph Aten. She died on 1 March 1917 in Allegheny county, Pennsylvania. She is buried at Prospect Cemetery, Brackenridge, Allegheny, Pennsylvania.^[1]

Her obituary in the Valley Daily News, Taretum, Pennsylvania read:

Mrs. Hannah Aten, aged 78, for forty-three years a resident of Tarentum, died yesterday afternoon at 2:10 o'clock at the family home in Dickey street. She has been in ill health since last November, but was confined to her bed only in the last two weeks.

Mrs. Aten was born February 13, 1839 in Mansfield, Pa., now Carnegie. She resided there until the family moved to Pittsburgh. She was married in Pittsburgh October 1865 to the late George [Joesph] Aten.

Shortly after that time Mr. and Mrs. Aten located in Tarentum. For forty-one years she has lived in the Dickey street home. She was a charter member of the Reformed Presbyterian church of this place.

Seven children survive as follow: Mrs. Jennie I. Kerr, Pittsburgh; Thomas G. Aten, Braddock; Mrs. J. M. Rodgers, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Charles F. Adams, Homestead; Mrs. N.O. Hunter, Tarentum; Mrs. J.C. Kimes, Pittsburgh, and George W. Aten of Braddock.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at two o'clock by Rev. O.T. Person. Interment, which will be private, is to be later in Prospect cemetery.
