Notes
- Note NI282[Saunders Family Feb 2012.FTW]
- Wife Helen died of milk fever when their son was a baby. Lou was broken hearted, which is why he joined the RAF. He was a Navigator in a Sunderland flying boat, and died in a crash over the North Sea before the end of the war. He is named on Panel 237 at the Runnymede Memorial. This is for war deaths with no known grave. He was a Sergeant, number 1641425 in 228 Squadron, RAF Volunteer Reserve. The CWGC records state his age as 26, but he must have been 28 as he was born in 1916.
