Sophia Chistina (Seibert) Kossow was born on 25 July 1842 in Wilhelminenhof, Lühburg, Güstrow, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Deutschland.^{[1] [2]} She was the daughter of Lorenz Christian Wilhelm Sievert and his wife Ernestine Dorothea Maria Wienck.

Sophia and William Kossow were married in 1870.^[3] William was born on 3 July 1842 in Tarnow, Stavenhagen, Mecklenburg-Schwerin. Their children were:

• Hannah Kossow (about 1873– )
• Meta (Kossow) Jensen (about 1875–1914)

Sophia died on 11 February 1914 in Marshall County, Kansas, United States.^[1] She was buried in Marysville Cemetery, Marysville, Kansas.
