Biography

Sarah D Shackelford was the daughter of Henry Shackelford and Eliza Perkins. She is on the 1850 Fed Census with her parents and siblings.^[1]

On the 1870 Fed Census She is listed with her mother E. Shackelford in their boarding house.^[2]

She married John H Echols 21 Dec 1876 in Hinds County, she was his second wife.^[3]

She is on the 1880 Fed Census living with her husband John, her sister Victoria McKay a nephew Thomas Ford and her mother E A Shackelford.^[4]

There is a copy of the 1900 Fed Census on Ancestry which lists her birth month and year as Feb 1848. She has her sister Virginia P McKay is the house with her they are both listed as widows. Virginia was born Mar 1842 and had 4 children all of whom had died. Sarah had no children of her own.^[5]

She died in 1909 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Jackson, Mississippi.^[6]
