Wm Mary Smith Mrs. Mary Smith, 84, of Arnold Stop, Chartiers Township, died Monday, October 7, 1946, at 4:17 p.m., following a lingering illness at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fern Arnold, Arnold Stop. Mrs. Smith had been an invalid for two years.
She was born in Harding County, 0., December 21, 1861, a daughter of the late John and Matilda McClure Shadley. She spent her early life in Ada., 0., coming to live with her daughter several years ago.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Methodist Church of Canonsburg. She was the widow of William T. Smith, horticulturist, and nurseryman.
She is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Maude McElroy, of Ada, 0.; Mrs. Fern Arnold, Arnold Stop; a sister, Mrs. E. W. Beaman, of Detroit, Mich., and a brother, Alton Shadley, of Ada, 0.; three grandchildren, Miss Kathryn Arnold, Arnold Stop; Mrs. Moselle Idoine, Canton, 0., and Dr. Charles McElroy, of Follansbee, W. Va.; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends are being received at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Arnold, Arnold Stop, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 8 p.m., in charge of the Rev. W. E. Chellgren, pastor of the First Methodist Church. The body will be removed to Ada, 0., Thursday, where burial will be made.[6]
